Does acupuncture hurt?

Far less than people expect. The needles are much finer than the ones used for injections, and most patients feel a brief, dull sensation at the point and nothing much after that. Tell Joseph if anything feels sharp or uncomfortable and he will adjust it.

Are the needles clean?

Yes. They are sterile, single-use needles that go straight into a sharps container afterward. Nothing is ever reused.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Eat something beforehand so you are not arriving hungry, wear loose clothing that can be rolled up at the arms and legs, and bring a list of any medications you take. Give yourself a few quiet minutes afterward rather than rushing straight into something stressful.

How quickly will I know if it is working?

Some people feel a difference after the first treatment, but for anything long-standing it is fairer to judge after a few sessions. Joseph will tell you after your first visit what he realistically expects and roughly how many appointments he thinks it will take.
